Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki meets the new Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq

إستقبل دولة رئيس الوزراء السيد نوري كامل المالكي بمكتبه الرسمي مساء اليوم الممثل الجديد للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة في العراق السيد آد ملكيرت. Received the Prime Minister, Mr. Nuri Kamel al-Maliki in his office Thursday evening the official Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mr. Ad Melkert.



وقال سيادته:لقد حققنا الكثير على طريق السيادة ومحاربة القاعدة والميليشيات ،ونحن ماضون بإتجاه تحقيق المزيد من النجاحات في مختلف المجالات. He said: We have achieved a lot on the road to sovereignty and the fight against Al Qaeda and the militias, and we are moving towards greater successes in various fields.



وأضاف السيد رئيس الوزراء لقد استمعت الأمم المتحدة لمطالب الحكومة العراقية،والتعاون بيينا متواصل للتخلص من جميع المشاكل والمعاناة التي نواجهها. "Mr. Prime Minister I have listened to the demands of the United Nations the government of Iraq, and continuing cooperation in our midst to get rid of all the problems and suffering that we face.



وتابع سيادته:إن الإنتخابات المقبلة تقف عليها الكثير من القضايا المهمة التي تخص البلاد،وان نجاحها سيكمل بناء الدولة،لذا فنحن نعمل على الحفاظ على الأمن والاستقرار حتى تكون هذه الإنتخابات بأعلى مستويات النجاح،داعيا الأمم المتحدة لتقديم التعاون والمساعدة في إنجاز هذه المهمة. He said: The upcoming elections are a lot of important issues concerning the country, and success will complement the building, so we are working to maintain security and stability so that these elections will be the highest levels of success, calling on the United Nations to provide cooperation and assistance in accomplishing this task.



وقال السيد رئيس الوزراء :سوف لن نسمح للإرهابيين والذين يراهنون على إختلال الوضع الأمني في العراق بعد انسحاب القوات الأميركية من المدن،وسنثبت قدرة قواتنا الأمنية على تحمل المسؤولية الكاملة والحفاظ على الأمن والاستقرار. "Mr. Prime Minister: I will not allow the terrorists and those who are betting on an improper security situation in Iraq after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the cities, and we will demonstrate the ability of our security forces to assume full responsibility for maintaining security and stability.



وأضاف سيادته :لدينا الرغبة في توسيع آفاق التعاون مع الأمم المتحدة في مجالات المياه والزراعة،كما حصل في مجال التجارة. He added: We have a desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with the United Nations in the areas of water and agriculture, as has happened in the area of trade.



من جهته قال ممثل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة في العراق: نرى تقدما كبيرا في مختلف المجالات،والأمم المتحدة تجدد تعاونها مع الحكومة العراقية ومساندتها في كل ما يحقق طموحات وتطلعات الشعب العراقي،وتقديم المساعدة في مجالات الإنتخابات والمياه والزراعة والبناءوالاستثمار وغيرها من المجالات الاخرى. For his part, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq: we see significant progress in various areas, and the United Nations renewed its cooperation with the Iraqi Government and support them in achieving all the ambitions and aspirations of the Iraqi people, and to provide assistance in the areas of elections, water, agriculture and Abannaalastosmar and other fields.

I met Hillary Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State last night with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, who is visiting the United States of America now.

Foreign Minister Meets U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton on July 16, 2009 in the headquarters of the ministry. During the meeting, Iraqi - U.S. relations and the mechanics of activating the framework agreement between the two countries were discussed.

The delegation touched on the outcome of the delegation of the government's contacts in New York with Secretary General of the United Nations and WHO experts, and all members of the UN Security Council to begin the process of reviewing the UN resolutions on Iraq under Chapter VII. The Minister asked for the U.S. government's support in the Security Council to turn the report of the Secretary General of the United Nations to a clear, active plan to release Iraq from the provisions of Chapter VII, according to the agreement to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq, signed at the end of 2008. Secretary Clinton expressed her understanding of the Iraqi stances in the review process. The talks dealt with activating cooperation between the two countries, according to the framework agreement strategist.

Secretary Clinton reiterated that in the coming days during the visit of the Prime Minister to Washington, will witness the activation of the agreement. The two sides discussed political and security developments in the country and the growth and development of Iraq's relations on Arab, regional and international levels. Secretary Clinton held a press conference with her Iraqi counterpart at the headquarters of the ministry.
