Iraq signs USD 7 billion contract with GE

Mr Kareem Waheed Iraqi minister of Electricity announced an integrated strategy for power in Iraq, revealing that a USD 7 billion contract was signed with General Electric Company to set up 56 power generation units at a capacity of 7,000 MW.
Mr Waheed said that "The ministry has abandoned the patching up methods and embarked on an integrated strategy to overhaul power in Iraq."
He said that "The ministry will rehabilitate two units in al Nasseriya steam operated power plant through a USD 33 million contract."
