(KUNA) - did not appear to members of the UN Security Council tonight enthusiastic about the Iraqi request for the establishment of an international tribunal to try Iraqi Baathists living in Syria, accused of responsibility for the terror attack in Baghdad last month.
The rotating presidency of the Security Council envoy Susan Rice told reporters after a council meeting of the Committee of sanctions on Iran in response to a question about the Iraqi request that "any member of the Council has not asked for any further action."
The Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki demanded the Security Council last week set up an international tribunal to investigate the attacks, which targeted a number of ministries last August, without mentioning Syria by name.
Rossi said a diplomat to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) "We believe that it is good to continue the Turkish mediation," which was launched recently between Baghdad and Damascus.
