Representative of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Iraq, Hamid al-Tani, said on Sunday [20 December] that neighbouring countries should respect Iraq's sovereignty.
"Iraq enjoys full sovereignty over its lands," Al-Tani told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He said that the OIC urges all its members to respect each others' sovereignty.
"Border issues between Iraq and Iran can be solved by diplomatic means," Al-Tani said.
Earlier, official spokesperson for the Iraqi government Dr Ali al-Dabbagh said that Iranian forces have partially withdrawn from the Al-Fakkah oilfield and lowered the flag they raised at an oil well in the Iraqi province of Misan.
