BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: U.S. general said on Monday that violence in Iraqi has reached its lowest levels by going 40 percent down.
Despite the tangible progress, the general said that violence will continue until the country’s upcoming parliamentary election.
“Al-Qaeda will try to attack civilians and security forces within the coming stage,” the general said in a press conference in Baghdad attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
But he said that al-Qaeda has become an isolated organization in Iraq, and that Iraqi security forces are improving and have become able to run security in Baghdad.
