Birmingham locations are included in Wells Fargo ’s (NYSE: WFC) first strategic rollout of foreign currency teller windows across the Southeast, the company announced today.
As customers and non-customers prepare to travel abroad, they will be able to get international currencies on the spot from five locations in and around the Magic City.
Jamie Dexter with Wells Fargo’s corporate communications department said the stores are starting with the most common kinds like euros and pounds, and a number of others can be ordered and ready for pickup in as little as two business days.
“Through our foreign currency service, we have more than 70 kinds of currency available – from Qatari rials to Romanian new lei to Costa Rican colones – though the last three are among those classified as exotic and take five days to order,” she said. “Customers should call ahead to see what’s on hand.”
Wells Fargo has never offered this service in the East, and this is the first time it has done an entire region at once. Foreign currency teller sites will be at about 35 bank stores across the Southeast in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
“We strategically chose locations that have an international bent - near an airport, military base or university, for example,” Dexter said. “This is an indication of how international Birmingham is.”
