Iraq - Technical Discussions at UN Headquarters between Iraqi Government's Delegation and Iraq Experts
Technical talks were held between the delegation of Foreign Ministry's experts and adviser to the Iraqi government and the Office of Iraq experts at the United Nations concerning the review of the international resolutions on Iraq On 7-14 at the United Nations headquarters.
Intensive discussion and dialogue took place between the two sides on the forthcoming report of the Secretary-General that will soon be presented to members of the Security Council as well as implemented commitments by Iraq and its pending obligations in the areas of disarmament of weapons of mass destruction and the current resolutions on the situation between Iraq and Kuwait.
The Iraqi delegation put forward a number of scenarios and solutions and mechanisms to help Iraq end with the implications and restrictions of Chapter VII. It was emphasized that Iraq was keen to meet all its international obligations, but aspires to a timetable and a clear plan of action in order to be able to get rid of the restrictions imposed on it to regain its natural and legal position in the international community, as an active member that plays a role in strengthening international peace and security.
