أكد نائب رئيس الجمهورية طارق الهاشمي أن " أمام رئاسة القمة، المتمثلة بفخامة الرئيس المصري محمد حسني مبارك، تحديات كبيرة تتمثل في إعادة تماسك المنظمة ووحدة موقفها وتوجيه سياستها الخارجية لدول المنظمة لتنطلق بقوة وبجدارة وتطالب بحقها المشروع بان تكون جزء من الهيكلية السياسية العالمية وتشارك في صناعة القرار بما يخدم المجتمع البشري الأقوياء والضعفاء".

وأشار فخامة النائب، في تصريح صحفي عقب اختتام مؤتمر قمة عدم الانحياز بشرم الشيخ، السبت 18-7-2009، الى أن" القمة كانت ناجحة خصوصا فيما يتعلق بالبيان الختامي والمقررات والتوصيات التي خلصت إليها القمة وهنالك أجندة ضخمة تنتظر رئاسة القمة لتنفيذها خلال السنوات القادمة"، موضحاً ان "الدول متفائلة بان تكون جمهورية مصر العربية هي التي تدير هذه المجموعة على السنوات القادمة و أتمنى السداد لفخامة الرئيس محمد حسني مبارك، العراق سعيد أن تتقلد دولة عربية رئاسة القمة وان تدير أعمالها ونحن نتمنى لمصر التوفيق والنجاح".
