التقى وزير المالية باقر الزبيدي في اسطنبول على هامش الاجتماعات الدولية بصندوق النقد الدولي والبنك الدولي الوفد الامريكي وشارك في الاجتماعات مساعد وزير الخارجية الامريكي ومسؤولة العلاقات المالية والاقتصادية في وزارة الخارجية الامريكية وبحضور مستشار وزير المالية عزيز جعفر ومحافظ البنك المركزي سنان الشبيبي ومدير عام المصرف العراقي للتجارة. Met with the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi in Istanbul on the sidelines of international meetings of the IMF and the World Bank and the U.S. delegation participated in the meetings, assistant U.S. secretary of state and responsible economic and financial relations in the U.S. State Department and attended by Advisor to Finance Minister Aziz Jaafar and Central Bank Governor Sinan al-Shabibi and Managing Director of Trade Bank of Iraq.

وقال مصدر في الوزارة لمراسل ( وكالة انباء الاعلام العراقي/واع ) انه جرى خلال اللقاء بحث سبل تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية والمالية بين البلدين وسبل تعزيزها، مبيناً ان الزبيدي دعا الوفد الامريكي للعمل على حث البنك الدولي وصندوق النقد لدعم طلب العراق بتوفير التمويل اللازم لدعم الموازنة بمبلغ يصل الى سبعة مليارات دولار من اجل اجتياز الصعوبات التي واجهها العراق نتيجة الازمة الاقتصادية المالية العالمية، كما طلب الوزير من الوفد الامريكي بضرورة مبادرة الولايات المتحدة لمنح العراق قرضا لدعم الموازنة لاعطاء اشارة قوية الى البنك الدولي وصندوق النقد الدولي والدول المانحة الاخرى بضرورة تقديم الدعم المالي للموازنة العراقية.
