Central Bank: Currency Asvarmn delete a project strategy for monetary policy

Iraqi Central Bank said on Monday that the deletion of zeros from the currency is one of the projects strategy adopted by the monetary policy since 2007, as part of the redesign and reform of the currency management system, indicating that its application will depend on the public aspects and security in particular.
The Central Bank of Iraq said in a statement received by the agency Voices of Iraq (VOI) that "some of the media handled the remarks indicated that there was no intention of CBI delete three zeros from the Iraqi dinar," adding that the deletions "one of the strategic projects adopted by the monetary policy since 2007, which was part of the redesign and reform of the currency management system and facilitate the national payments system. "
According to the statement, the project "came after a study and a broad debate with the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Council of Ministers and the Commission on the currency in the CBI, and the study project and its results were adopted in principle, having set the basic framework for substantive progress in the process when starting out," referring to that the operation "if approved will not affect the obligations between the state and the private sector such as construction and supply contracts and other, and between the contractors and will not suffer one to be organized based on the central administration for the new currency."
The statement said that based on the foregoing, "affirms its commitment to the CBI stated strategy and its projects in particular project to delete the numbers from the Iraqi dinar, which was part of the advancement of economic prosperity for our country and is consistent with the stage of development and economic and social development that will occur Iraq"
