Finance Ministry starts bank accounts for Basra revenues

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Finance Ministry has agreed to open a bank accounts to be used to deposit Basra’s revenues from oil and border points.
“The amounts may exceed ID700 billion,” Ahmed al-Silaiti, head of the Basra Provincial Council, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Monday.
He said that projects that will be funded by these amounts will be executed soon.
The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Iraq.
