Iraqi Trade Ministry to reduce the items of ration card

Baghdad, April 14 (Aknews) - The Iraqi Trade Ministry intends to reduce the items of ration card to five important and major food items," the economic adviser Hasanen Fadel announced today.
"The Ministry has decided to reduce the items of the ration card to five major items, in order to reduce the physical strain experienced by the Ministry because of importing goods more than the budget allocated for it," Fadel said.
he stressed that there were real problems facing the work of the Ministry, especially with regard to ration card items, thus new regulations are required to facilitate the delivery of ration card items to the citizens.
"There is no doubt that the reasons for the failure of the Ministry are the administrative and legal problems faced, as well as charges of corruption against many officials," he added.
"The process of reducing the card items will allow the global companies to import food that has high qaulity."
The Trade Ministry announced earlier that the ration cards allocated for 2010 are insufficient and a supplemental budget may be developed to them.
The financial allocations for the ration card 2010 are amounted to three trillion (t) and 500 billion (b) dinars (about 2.9 billion (b) US dollars) and the assignments of last year 2009 for the ration card reached to four trillion (t) dinars.
The general budget for 2010 is amounted to be 84 trillion (t) Iraqi dinars, 23% for the investment budget and 61% for the operating budget.
