BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Investments in oil fields in Iraq will start by August 2009, the official spokesperson of the Iraqi Oil Ministry said Tuesday, referring that investment contracts will be admitted to the council of ministers for final approval.
“The contracts were signed today, but the contracts are now in the preliminary stage,” Assim Jihad told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The final signature will be added to the contracts by August 2009, when the investment process will start,” he said.
He pointed out that the contracts are valid for 20 years, and can be renewed for five more years.
