July 16 2011

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: President Jalal Talabani and the head of al-Iraqiya Bloc Iyad Allawi have discussed the implementation of the Arbil agreement, a presidential statement noted.

The statement, as received by Aswat al-Iraq, said that Talabani discussed with al-Iraqiya's delegation, headed by Iyad Allawi, "the implementation of the accords reached , foremost is Arbil agreement, as well as the necessity for all to participate in the national partnership, where all bear the responsibility of decisions, duties and governmental function in the light of the articles of the constitution."

Differences exist between the State of Law bloc, headed by Nouri al-Maliki and al-Iraqiya Bloc on the terms of the Arbil agreement, mostly the draft law of the Higher Strategic Policies Council, and the mechanism to elect its president.
