Meet Finance Minister

Met with the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi, Minister of Finance of Lebanon, Mr. Mohammed Chatah, and the delegation accompanying him in the office of Iraq in Istanbul on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank


Which was held in Istanbul and the meeting was attended by Iraqi Central Bank Governor Dr. Shabibi Wed.

Aziz Jaafar adviser to the Minister of Finance and the appearance of Mr. Mohamed Salih, adviser to the CBI.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations and prospects for development in the interest of both peoples. The Minister stressed on the direction of the Iraqi government be encouraged to enter the Lebanese private sector to the Iraqi market, whether the implementation of government projects or investment in various sectors.

As the Minister that a double...Between the two countries are ready for signature and can be done after the formation of the Lebanese government. His Excellency was welcomed by Finance Minister on the continued cooperation of both the official and the private sector and it is waiting for visit of His Excellency the Minister of Finance of Iraq to Lebanon to sign the agreement on double taxation and the meeting with the Lebanese private sector to encourage it to invest in Iraq and contribute to the implementation of capital projects to build the Iraqi infrastructure.

Meets with Minister of Finance of Jordan

Met with His Excellency the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi in Istanbul on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund

HE Dr. Bassem Salem Minister of Finance of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and in the presence of Messrs. d. Shabibi Iraqi Central Bank Governor, Dr. Umayya Toukan, Governor of Central Bank of Jordan ...

During the meeting, they discussed economic and financial relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of strengthening them, including economic interests between them.

Also discussed the outcome of meetings held by the Prime Minister of Iraq and Jordan, which was held in Baghdad last month and its implementation have also been studying the possibility of establishing a joint free trade zone between the two countries in the border region to stimulate trade and economic relations in the interest of the two countries.

Completed negotiations with the International Monetary Fund

Over 4 days, 5/10/2009 Iraq ended his talks with the International Monetary Fund to discuss fiscal policy and budget in 2010 and oil policy and monetary policy


It was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi, Minister of Oil Dr.. Hussain al-Shahristani, D. Shabibi central bank governor and a number of advisers.

The outcome of these talks, the agreement between Iraq and the IMF on a set of principles would expose the Iraqi side of the Council of Ministers to take appropriate decisions thereon.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and the U.S. Treasury in Istanbul

Met with the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi in Istanbul on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, the U.S. delegation at meetings

Chaired by Mr. Robert Hormats, Assistant Secretary of State, Ms. Heidi Zydiker responsible economic and financial relations in the U.S. State Department and Mr. Becker Daley chief economist at the U.S. Embassy and Mr. Andy Boca Assistant U.S. Treasury. And the presence of Dr. Shabibi Iraqi Central Bank Governor, Dr. Aziz Jaafar senior advisor to the Minister of Finance, Mr. Hussein Al-Azri Director General of Trade Bank of Iraq. At the beginning of the meeting held in the Office of Iraq in Istanbul welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Finance.

The American delegation and discussed with them ways to strengthen bilateral and economic ties between the two countries and ways to strengthen and called on "the U.S. delegation to advance the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to support Iraq's request to provide funding for budget support up to seven billion dollars to get through the difficulties faced by Iraq as a result of the financial crisis and global economic .

He also asked the minister of the U.S. delegation the need for the initiative of the United States giving Iraq a loan to support the budget by giving a strong signal to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund and other donor countries need to provide financial support for the Iraqi budget.

For his part, promised the U.S. delegation requested the transfer of Iraq to the U.S. government and Congress U.S. to put pressure on both the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to respond to the request of Iraq in addition to providing support through Matoffer U.S. government funds to support the 2010 budget.

He also promised the U.S. delegation to talk with Japan for the initiative to provide financial support for Iraq's budget during the two years 2010 and 2011 have shown Ms. Heidi Ziedkr to speak with the Council of Representatives (Congress) in order to intervene with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to respond to the request of Iraq.

Al-Zubaidi ... Meet Finance Minister of France in Istanbul

On the sidelines of the IMF and the World Bank in Istanbul, met with His Excellency the Minister of Finance Baqir al-Zubaidi Ms. Okrad France's Finance Minister

During the meeting, they discussed economic and financial relations between the two countries and ways of strengthening in order to serve common interests.

And discussed with the minister and finance minister of France the subject of the agreement with the Foundation (COFACE) French credit facilities to be provided to the Trade Bank of Iraq for the opening credits, for all purposes of trade and investment, the parties agreed on the possibility of signing when the visit of HE the President Mr. Jalal Talabani to France during the coming period .

The two sides discussed the subject of Investment Guarantee Agreement between France and Iraq in order to encourage French investors to enter the Iraqi market and agreed to by France to send proposals for the maturation of this Convention. View the Minister of Finance Iraq's efforts in settling Iraq's debt and achievements in this field, adding "that Iraq has been able to settle the bulk of the debts, except for some countries, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq hopes that these countries follow the example of the United Arab Emirates written off 100% of the debts on Iraq.
