The United Arab Emirates central bank said on Saturday it plans to build a currency printing unit in Abu Dhabi.
The plant will have capacity for expansion to undertake orders from countries in the region, a statement from the central bank said. However, the bank gave no details about the cost or when the printing plant would be ready.
Currently the UAEs currency is printed overseas in countries such as the UK and France, a central bank spokesman said.
