US President Barack Obama will hold a press conference on Tuesday, hours before results from crucial Super Tuesday contests which could be pivotal in deciding the Republican presidential nominee.
Obama's spokesman Jay Carney said on Twitter his boss would field questions from theWhite House press corps on Tuesday afternoon, as Republicans in 10 states cast their votes for a candidate to take him on in November's election. The timing of the press conference, Obama's first this year, suggested the White House aim to steal some of the Republicans' thunder at a pivotal moment of the race to choose a nominee to go up against Obama.
It also comes a day after a crucial White House meeting with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Iran's nuclear program and what to do about it.
