UN noon briefing

SECURITY COUNCIL TO HEAR BRIEFING ON IRAQ, SUDAN AND DR CONGO

After that, Council members will receive their first briefing from the Secretary-General’s new Special Representative for Iraq, Ad Melkert. Melkert will discuss the Secretary-General’s recent report on the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI). Council members are to discuss Iraq in an open meeting followed by consultations.


In its closed consultations, the Security Council will also hear from Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Alain Le Roy on Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
