KUWAIT -- The parliamentary committee, in charge of studying the proposal for a GCC unified currency, forwarded Wednesday the proposal to the upcoming parliamentary session for vote.
Head of the committee MP Dr. Yousif Al-Zalzalah told the press that the committee had unanimously agreed to the draft law, affirming that the issue of approval was left now for the parliament.
Member of the committee MP Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak said on her part that the GCC currency must be given a chance to be discussed and possibly approved in the future because unifying the currency might give the GCC countries a new economic edge.
She hoped that the plan to issue a single GCC currency would be approved in the upcoming Gulf summit to be held in Kuwait in mid-December.
