Lack of quorum hinders Parliament session

Tuesday, January 05, 2010 11:17 GMT

Lack of quorum in the first legislative session this year was justified by deputy speaker Khaled Al Attiyeh saying that a number of MPs abstained from attending the session because their parties did not give them the chance to run for elections while others are preoccupied by their electoral campaigns.

Rows hindering the ratification of 2010 budget are more political than technical, Al Attiyeh told Reuters.
