GCC officials discuss facilities of trade with WTO members

RIYADH, June 27 (KUNA) -- Officials of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council held talks on Saturday on means of facilitating trade between the member states of the GCC and the World Trade Organization member countries.
GCC General-Secretariat said in a statement the conferees examined a working paper, presented by the Kuwaiti delegation, and a memorandum on facilitating the trade with the international partners. They also reviewed a proposal by the United Arab Emirates on best means of application of the WTO regulations.
They agreed on working out a comprehensive perspective on facilitating trade on basis of the WTO commitments and the GCC custom union requirements.
The next meeting at this level will be held on September 6, with participation of representatives of the WTO member states.
The WTO, formerly known as the Gatt, had been established to remove barriers in face of trade among nations of the world.
