Erbil, Oct. 15 (AKnews) – The BBC reports that the focus of China's ruling Communist Party’s annual meeting in Beijing this year looks set to place economic development at the heart of a five-year plan.Hu jintao,President of China
Although the meeting’s agenda has not been disclosed, the Chinese state media says that officials want citizens to buy more domestically produced goods in order to stimulate the economy.
China’s significant economic growth in recent years has been driven mainly by exports.
Narrowing the growing gap between the country’s rich and poor is also a key objective as disputes over pay have engendered social unrest in the past.
Observers believe that such instability is a concern for China’s leaders as it compromises their authority across the country.
It is also said that foreign relations, human rights and the international economy look set to become major challenges for the state.
The Chinese President Hu Jintao and the Prime Minister Wen Jiabao will be attending the assembly of China’s 300-member Central Committee in Beijing where the nation’s five-year plan is to be discussed.
